Olive groves and vineyards as far as the eye can see. The sea invites you to an excursion. Medieval castles and cities create a historic atmosphere. This is the Tuscany. Where you live here best? A nice idea is often offered here as “Living on the farm”. The concept is called “Agriturismo“. Farmers provide an accomodation on the land, catering on request with local Tuscan cuisine and often offer self-grown fruits, vegetables, olive oil or wine.
We opted for the accommodation on the farm Campospillo in Magliano in Tuscany. We traveled with the car and have the property taken as a starting point for exploring the region. If that is not enough diversity for You, the stay can also be combined with a few nights in Florence for example.
Campospillo is a beautiful natural property. The rooms with shower are functional. The host Silvio speaks English well. Otherwise, you can always communicate with “hands and feet” and an Italian dictionary. Many of the up to 40 guests here are Italians. There is a wonderful family atmosphere. For breakfast homemade jams, yogurt and bread are served. The dinner is also recommendable. In 4 courses Bruscetta is served with homemade olive oil, pasta, main course and dessert at a reasonable price (in June 2016 € 20 per person). Local and homemade wine can also be enjoyed at an affordable price.
Conclusion: A typical Tuscan culinary and familiar experience for all who want to spend their holiday with Italians instead of visiting only the land.
